This is an exceptionally rare, large carving of an Chinese jade gemstone, IMPERIAL Mutton Fat JADE KWAN YIN BUDDHA in the typical Ming style. The quality of the carving is executed with a care and expertise that is rarely found in Ming dynasty jade. It is a testament to the carver's art. The jade has a wonderful luster and the appearance of great age. When examined under 10x magnification you can see the intricate workmanship that this jade treasure possesses. Not often will you see an artifact of this beauty created from a provincial jade work shop for sale to the public. Most specimens of this quality are already either in museums or in private collections. Age : In the Ming Dynasty style (1368-1644), actual age unknown. Material : IMPERIAL MUTTON FAT NEPHRITE jade, and Gilt, with very fine hand carving and delicate detailing. Provenance : Reputed to be a disaccensioned from the Alt Amerikanisches Museum , witzerland. Condition : Very Good condition considering the extreme age with with only some minute chipping to the crown and two fingertips missing on her left hand. It exhibits a wonderful rich, ancient patina that is the result of many years buried in the earth.
